Magnificent O (27 August)

Arvo Pärt and Bob Chilcott – what a magnificent pairing! Each of the seven antiphons in these two work is a designation or description of Jesus Christ, his lineage and attributes – and all begin with the exclamation ‘O’. These two significant works by Pärt and Chilcott are very different in their musical expression of the traditional Advent antiphons and Anne Cawrse has taken elements that sit at the heart of the Antiphons – humanity, history, love, redemption – as the basis of her new work.
